2012 POWER RANKINGS: WEEK 5
RANK TEAM / RECORD TRENDING COMMENTS
1
Texans
4-0
 Last Week: 1
Change: –
Their final scores each week don’t look impressive….but it’s because they dominate 3 1/2 quarters and then can shut it down early each week.
2
Falcons
4-0
Last Week: 2
Change: –
We need to watch this team closely. Weeks 1-3 were against the AFC West (very weak) Last week was a challenge.
3
49ers
3-1
Last Week: 4
Change: +1
Regardless of the 1 loss, this is the most COMPLETE team in the NFL
4
Ravens
3-1
Last Week: 3
Change: -1
They didn’t do anything WRONG this week….they just looked LESS impressive than the Niners.
5
Cardinals
4-0
Last Week: 5

Survived a good test to stay undefeated.
6
Eagles
3-1
Last Week: 9
Change: +3
Last week was a snapshot of how good this team can be when they are disciplined and they pay attention to detail.
7
Patriots
2-2
Last Week: 8
Change: +1
Their record is pretty circumstantial, but I would argue that this team could beat any team in the NFL on their good days.
8
Packers
2-2
Last Week: 7
Change: -1
Again, another team who didn’t do anything wrong last week, and they are a victim of circumstances. The other team (N.E.) just looked better.
9
Bears
3-1
Last Week: 11
Change:
+2
This performance has been a long time coming, especially since they have been on “SNOOZE” mode for two weeks.
10
Giants
2-2
Last Week: 6
Change: -4
I will continue to repeat. Expectations high, results low. Expectations low, results high.
11
Chargers
3-1
Last Week: 13
Change: +2
They looked more impressive than I have grown yo expect.
12
Bengals
3-1
Last Week: 15
Change: +3
Their young offense just keeps winning. Their young defense just keeps performing.
13
Broncos
2-2
 Last Week: 14
Change: +2
The more they learn one another, the better they will be.
14

Vikings
3-1
Last Week: 21
Change: +7
I think we can safely say anything they do this season will be “ABOVE EXPECTATIONS”.
15
Seahawks
2-2
Last Week: 10

Just when we start giving them their just due….
16
Steelers

 Idle week.

Remember what I said about the Giants? Apply [here] as well.
18
Redskins
2-2
Last Week: 22
Change: +4
Rookie RGIII still looks impressive, but they better provide him some help. QUICKLY!
19
Rams
2-2
 Last Week: 25
Change: +6
 This team is no push-over.
20
Bills
2-2
Last Week: 19
Change: -1
If this team could avoid injuries, they could be pretty good.
21
Lions
1-3
Last Week: 18
Change: -3
When you rely solely on an explosive offense, what happens when that doesn’t work out?
22
Jets
2-2
Last Week: 17
Change: -5
When you lose your best player on both sides of the ball, where do your season expectations go?
23
Panthers
1-3
Last Week: 23
Change: –
Cam Newton is doing his part, and didn’t overdo it this week. They just played a better team.
24
Dolphins
1-3
Last Week: 29
Change: +5
How does a team move up 5 spots in defeat? When others look even worse!
25
Buccaneers
1-3
Last Week: 20
Change: -5
I’m tired of being credited for “ALMOST” victories!
26
Chiefs
1-3
Last Week: 26
Change: –
So much unused potential.
27
Titans
1-3
Last Week: 24
Change: -3
The week RB Chris Johnson finally wakes up, everyone else goes to sleep.
28
Saints
0-4
Last week: 28
Change: –
This team has to be better than 0-4, but they have an aging, under-performing defense.
29
Raiders
1-3
Last Week: 27
Change: -2
They have catchy names on offense, that we expect to perform. The results just don’t add up.
30
Jaguars
1-3
Last week: 30
Change: –
I am convinced that Jacksonville is a black hole in the NFL. They add flashy rookies and big names, who can never perform here.
31
Colts
1-2
Last week: 31
Change: –
Idle week.
32
Browns
0-4
Last Week: 32

Change: –

You have to watch their games to see that they are closer to winning than they would seem.

STUDS OF THE WEEK: MINNESOTA VIKINGS. (That’s 2 weeks in a row). Again, what do you think the Vegas odds were that the Vikings would be 3-1 and a division leader after the first quarter of the season?

DUDS OF THE WEEK: DALLAS COWBOYS. I had several options, but it’s not just about losing. It’s the way they lost. They seriously didn’t even show up for a game against a team that has been lacking on offense, just like them. Romo looked like a middle school QB.
