2012 POWER RANKINGS: WEEK 12
RANK TEAM / RECORD TRENDING COMMENTS
1
Texans
9-1
Last Week: 1
Change: –
Opposing defenses will watch the Jacksonville tape, and this defense will have problems.
2
Falcons
9-1
Last Week: 2
Change: –
Some feel that the TRUE Atlanta Falcons, and the TRUE Matt Ryan are starting to show. Could be ugly for ATL.
3
Ravens
8-2
Last Week: 4
Change: +1
Tough win against a division rival. On a good note, the 1-game suspension to Ed Reed has been lifted.
4
49ers
7-2-1
Last Week: 5
Change: +1
Can’t remember the last time I’ve seen a team look this impressive behind a game-time, back-up QB.
5
Patriots
7-3
Last Week: 6
Change: +1
They can build on their impressive victory against Indy. Strong defensive stands, high-octane offense. But the loss of Gronk is huge.
6
Packers
7-3
Last Week: 7
Change: +1
Don’t look now, they are TIED for the division lead.
7
Bears
7-3
Last Week: 3
Change: -4
Obviously, Jason Campbell isn’t the same as having Jay Cutler lead the offense. But their defense faced a back-up as well.
8
Steelers
6-4
Last Week: 8
Change: –
I’m still not looking to punish them too much for a close loss, against a tough division rival, without their starting QB.
9
Broncos
6-3
Last Week: 10
Change: +1
After playing a tough schedule early, the Broncos load has gotten lighter, and their future much brighter.
10
Giants
6-4
Last Week: 10
Change: –
They needed this bye week. While they sat back, they also got to see some serious flaws in some of their future playoff rivals.
11
Seahawks
6-4
Last Week: 11
Change: –
They have to feel good about where they are right now.
12
Vikings
6-4
Last Week: 12
Change: –
Minnesota is 1 game out from leading their division. They’ve had their break, and now it’s go time. Hopefully they have Ponder back on track.
13
Colts
6-4
Last Week: 13
Change: –
I’m not beating them up too bad this week. They are still young, and they were in it offensively early.
14
Buccaneers
6-4
Last Week: 15
Change: +1
Nobody’s jumping up and down over a tough win against Carolina, but it is a win. And this team has shown the ability to stay in games.
15
Saints
5-5
Last Week: 16
Change: +1
After starting 0-4, they are right there in the Wild Card race.
16
Cowboys
5-5
Last Week: 14
Change: -2
This team has some serious issues. They won. They played a team that has been tougher than their scores show. But they make EVERy game harder than it has to be.
17
Bengals
5-5
Last Week: 19
Change: +2
Beat the teams you are supposed to beat. Period.
18
Lions
4-6
Last Week: 17
Change: -1
Valiant effort by a team looking to get to .500, and stay in the playoff hunt. They clearly could’ve, and should’ve won their game, but that’s the difference between ‘very good” and “decent” teams.
19
Cardinals
4-6
Last Week: 18
Change: -1
(See above)
20
Dolphins
4-6
Last Week: 20
Change: –
This may be my disappointment of the 2nd Quarter of the season. This team has fallen hard.
21
Redskins
4-6
Last Week: 25
Change: +4
You’re at a crossroad, against another team that is in the same predicament. And you showed that you still have a fight in you.
22
Jets
4-6
Last Week: 26
Change: +4
They didn’t play the best competition, but they didn’t play a bunch of slouches either. Anything positive is good for this team.
23
Titans
4-6
Last Week: 23
Change: –
Practice, or no practice, rest, or not. The one thing I hope they remembered during their week off is that they HAVE TO GO THROUGH CHRIS JOHNSON.
24
Chargers
4-6
Last Week: 22
Change: -2
It isn’t as easy making the playoffs now that there is some competition in their division.
25
Bills
4-6
Last Week: 27
Change: +2
Good win over a division rival. They still have work to do, but they aren’t far off from being a good team.
26
Rams
3-6-1
Last Week: 21
Change: -5
I don’t understand don’t understand some of these teams. How do you challenge San Fran to a tie one week, and get embarrassed by the Jets the next?.
27
Eagles
3-7
Last Week: 24
Change: -3
We can now call this season OVER for Philly. Along with the Philadelphia stays for Coach Andy Reed and QB Michael Vick.
28
Raiders
3-7
Last week: 28
Change: –
I’ve ran out of negatives to say about this team.
29
Panthers
2-8
Last Week: 29
Change: –
8 losses, and they’ve lost 6 of them by 6 or less points. Has to hurt.
30
Browns
2-8
Last week: 30
Change: –
They continue to lose, but still continue to prove to be a tough out.
31
Jaguars
1-9
Last week: 31
Change: –
The Jacksonville team we witnessed Sunday has no business being 1-9.
32
Chiefs
1-9
Last Week: 32

Change: –

The Kansas City team we witnessed Sunday (and the weeks before) has no business even having 1 win.

STUDS OF THE WEEK: (3) DETROIT LIONS, JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS, and  ARIZONA CARDINALS. They all have losing records, but played the top teams in the league, and could have easily pulled off the upset. Great football.

DUDS OF THE WEEK: (2) ATLANTA FALCONS, HOUSTON TEXANS. The best two teams in the league, and they both should’ve easily suffered a loss to two of the worst teams in the league. They both still have work to do.
